Washington DC

This picture was taken from Greg and Karen's deck
off their kitchen. The front of their townhouse
looks like the third townhouse in from the left.
The one with a light yellow siding.

This picture was also taken from their deck,
showing the back of townhouses.

The US Air Force Memorial
The memorial is on a bluff overlooking
Washington, DC

The sand colored building is the Pentagon
as viewed from the Air Force Memorial. From
here you can also see Arlington Cemetery,
the Lincoln, Jefferson and Washington
Memorials as well as the Capital Dome and
the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

The spires are over 300 hundred feet tall
and represent the missing man formation.
The glass monolith in the front further
explains the missing man formation.

The Iwo Jima Memorial

The grave site of Pres. and Mrs. Kennedy
and their two infant children.

This was taken looking away from the
Kennedy Grave site and toward
the Washington Memorial.

Guarding the Tomb of the Unknowns
Arlington Cemetery

George Washington University at Foggy Bottom
A number of Greg's graduate school classes are
in this building. The Dept. of Interior
is across the street and on the opposite corner
is the National Headquarters of
the American Red Cross.

A remembrance to the men who
served in Viet Nam.

The Viet Nam Wall
The wall was much bigger than we expected,
the etched names were a much smaller print.
We were told there are always a lot of visitors
to this memorial but it was extremely quiet,
no conversations going on.

Steve served in the Navy during the early years
of Viet Nam and before he became a US Citizen.
This was a very meaningful visit for both of us.

A rememberance to the women
who served in Viet Nam.

The Korean War Memorial

Another part of the Korean War Memorial.

The National Museum of the Marine Corps
Quantico, Virginia

Upon entering the museum you go into quite
a large rotunda that has displays of military
equipment and around the upper walls
are quotations from a number of people
speaking about the Marine Corps.

Various types of planes are hung as if in flight.

A Harrier jet with a quote in the background.

One of the many quotes around this room.

This is one of two flags flown at Iwo Jima
on Mt. Suribachi. This is the smaller
of the two flags which are interchanged
periodically for museum goers and to
protect the flags.
